Hayley Trampenau

Born in Letchworth Garden City I have loved drawing since I could hold a pencil.

I now live in Stevenage Old Town with my photographer husband and our 4 dogs. When not working our favourite way to spend time is walking with the dogs in the countryside or on the Norfolk coast.

Now I paint in Acrylic on canvas along with illustrating using pen, ink and water colour.

My inspiration is drawn from the natural world around me both at home in the UK countryside and globally from wildlife further afield.

Animals (wild or domesticated) have always been my passion and I aim to capture the beauty and movement of them in way that is humorous and a touch whimsical, enough to bring a smile to the viewer, yet still remain true to the animal’s natural spirit and essence.

I draw inspiration from the shapes of plants and the colours of the seasons, the weather and the light. I try to absorb every moment when I am walking in the countryside or by the sea, whether it be the light falling across fields, the clouds and the colour of the sky, the shapes of trees or the waves on a beach. I also notice the small details of leaves or pebbles, hedgerows and subtle light changes.

Other info that may or may not be relevant?…..

After school and art collage I worked in design in a glassware business and then have been assistant to commercial photographers. I currently work with my photographer husband on commercial shoots and on our dog portraiture side www.dography.co.uk, when I am not painting.

All my life I have always continued to draw and produce artwork but was only on a personal level for presents and cards. When I decided to paint my dog’s portraits in acrylics a few years ago that I found the passion to paint on a larger scale so I revisited all my old sketch books and applied my new painting style to new and old sketches and ideas that I have continued to scribble down – ready for this moment?!

Hare’s,  Zebras, Foxes…….there’s not enough hours in the day for everything I want to capture.

I now take commissions to paint other people’s pet’s portraits and I also do pen and ink pet (cartoony style) portraits.

Please enjoy looking around my work and contact me if you would like to discuss anything…….
